In this bronze sculpture of an Aberdeen Angus Bull Hamish has captured the impressive musculature of the beast, with their wide chests and stocky legs. First recorded in Scotland some 500 years ago, Aberdeen Angus cattle are hardy and tough, perfectly adapted to survive a harsh winter out on the hillside. Although they are undoubtedly a power-house, Aberdeen Angus Bulls are also surprisingly placid in nature.

"Having grown up on a farm, livestock are a major source of inspiration.  Cattle have always been a favourite subject – such characters and their anatomy is so well defined." (HM)

Clay model of Aberdeen Angus

This was a bespoke commission from an Australian cattle breeder. I sculpted this bull in a field, directly from life with a breed champion bull from the Aynho herd, which is the second oldest Aberdeen Angus herd in the UK.
