Wild Boar Dart - 2014 SOLD OUT
Wild Boar Dart 2014 is Sold Out - try Badger 2017 instead.
"Wild boar prefer to spend most of the day hiding in thick conifers, making them a hard subject to photograph – but I regularly heard and had fleeting glimpses of the thorough the trees. On one day a family of four bolted from under a low canopy no more than a few meters in front of me. I’m not sure who was more surprised! Spending time in their habitat is a valuable learning experience reading their ways by different spore. It required me to tune into my sixth sense. In one area, which had been partly forested, the tree stumps had become perfect itching posts – inspirational!" (HM)
Hamish has created a series of bronze Wild Boar sculptures in a variety of characteristic poses.
Wild Boar Dart shows a wild pig running at speed as if alarmed. This heavily textured piece is available in a limited edition of 12.
THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
In 2014 I was invited to the Ardenne in Belgium, where I had the opportunity to get close to wild boar. They are extraordinary animals to watch but difficult to photograph! I spent many hours in my camouflage clothing hidden amongst the trees and leaves, waiting for them to appear. I made this sculpture, together with Wild Boar Itch, and Wild Boar Bolt on that research trip with the aid of my travelling studio box.
