Woodcock - 2011 SOLD OUT
Woodcock 2011 is Sold Out - try Woodcock Walking 2019 instead.
Hamish’s bronze Woodcock sculpture shows this attractive bird flying past a fallen tree branch. We get a real sense of its cryptic plumage, how well it blends into its woodland habitat, with Hamish’s textured and marked working of its feathers.
The Woodcock’s speed and erratic flight patterns challenges the countryside sportsman and makes it a prized game bird. As it is nocturnal and spends most of its day resting in thick undergrowth, it is rarely seen unless flushed. With its long straight bill, sturdy body and short legs, it looks at its most graceful in flight.
Hamish’s Woodcock sculpture is available in bronze in a limited edition of 12.
THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
This sculpture shows a woodcock ginking through a wood. Once I had the composition of what I wanted to achieve with this sculpture in my head, I then set about finding a gnarly piece of oak that would work. Both the woodcock and the wood were cast into bronze as a whole. A snapshot of a moment that I think works well.
