Getting ready for a trip to Tanzania February 27, 2025
I have been planning another research trip for a while. After meeting Mark Houldsworth from Nomad Tanzania at Chelsea Flower Show 2024, I decided Tanzania would be the prefect destination! It is a country I have never visited before, so I am very excited about going.
I have a variety of animals I would like to see and sculpt on this trip, including hippo, ostrich, elephant, giraffe and cheetah. Before I depart, I have been researching them, and have made small armatures of each sculpture that I will carry in my sculpting travel case. I am also taking my new camera to take research videos and photographs that I can use when I return to my studio afterwards.
Our flights have been booked by the ever-efficient Liz Penn at Travel Counsellors. We are flying out with KLM via Amsterdam, and on arrival in Tanzania, we will be in the capable hands of Nomad Tanzania. I am also looking forward to wearing my new clothing given to me by Aubin and Wills. Our next obstacle is to try and keep our packing to a minimum. This is easier said than done with all the kit I need to take, but weight can be an issue when travelling on smaller planes.
