A chance meeting with Aubin’s original founder Peter Williams at a friend’s party, sparked a wonderful friendship which has turned me into a very smartly turned-out sculptor.
Peter’s passion for the arts, and my need for some well made, contemporary clothing, resulted in me being invited to be part of the brand’s ‘Friends of Aubin’ series featured on the Aubin Almanac blog.
Ultimately telling the story of their slogan, “Better is Greater than More”, the blog showcases the brand’s stories, lookbooks and anything else that has inspired this great British brand along the way. The ‘Friends of Aubin’ include some very esteemed folk who all share similar values and inspiration. I was surprised, and secretly rather chuffed, to be asked!
We had a great day doing a photoshoot here at my home and studio in Oxfordshire with the Aubin team, who were so easy to be with. I wouldn’t describe myself as a natural model, but the sun was shining which makes photography a bit easier.
The pictures from the photoshoot have amused and impressed my friends and family, who are not used to seeing me scrub up very often. I’m usually grubby from digging in the vegetable garden, or covered in clay from working in my studio!
Aubin’s clothing is extremely comfortable and durable. It was invaluable during my recent research trip to Tanzania, but wearing it at home and in my studio has been fantastic too. I’m definitely a smarter sculptor than I was before! I have had many a compliment on my new gear and would highly recommend it.
