The iconic American bald eagle has been the national emblem of the United States since 1782 and symbolises strength, courage, freedom and immortality. I have been lucky to see these powerful birds in both Canada and America. The golden eagle is very similar in shape and size, though the bald eagle has a larger beak.

I researched this bald eagle sculpture for a commission in Maine and then studied an eagle at the Cotswold Falconry centre. I wanted to sculpt an eagle sharply banking as if turning back for prey, which makes a great composition from 360 degrees.

This scaled down version is made from a laser scan of the original life size clay American Bald Eagle 2023 life size sculpture.
