Wild Boar Jumping - 2010
Wild boar are an omnivorous woodland animal. They are common in large numbers across the forests of mainland Europe, in smaller numbers in Britain. Mature males have protruding tusks and grow to be quite large - standing around 80cm at the shoulder and weighing over 100kg. They can also be quite aggressive!
Hamish has made two bronze wild boar sculptures - Wild Boar Jumping and Wild Boar Landing - which are available separately, though they make a handsome pair when placed together.
THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
Wild boar prefer to spend most of the day hiding in thick conifers, making them a hard subject to study! I have seen them in the wild in the Ardennes. Spending time in their habitat is a valuable learning experience, reading their ways by different spore. It required me to tune into my sixth sense!
