Some years ago, Hamish launched himself into the creation of a limited collection of selected works in silver. The deep fluid richness of cast silver enhances the texture of Hamish’s work. Here, the magnificence of both bird and material complement each other to perfection.

English Partridge Taking Off is a celebration of this game bird, rising in all its glory from the field in flight. Crafted in silver from a limited edition of only three, this partridge sculpture would be a delightful gift for any country sports enthusiast or bird lover.

“Birds require a different approach. I first make an aluminium wing and usually work in plasticine because the feathers are so thin. It’s about interpreting feather pattern through texture. (HM)

English Partridge are a game bird I know well and that works well as a sculpture. This group of three taking off was first made in bronze, and then cast into silver as a small limited edition. The interpretation of feather pattern is shown in its full richness when cast into silver. The silver enhances the texture and gives a refined quality to the work.
