Growing up on a farm in Cornwall, it is perhaps no surprise that Hamish is often inspired to sculpt cattle. He is drawn to them because their musculature is well-defined – perfect for his method of creating an anatomical skeleton first, on which his wildlife sculptures are then built up.

This magnificent bronze sculpture of a Bull Head is impressive enough in its size, measuring nearly 2 meters tall. In this highly textural piece, Hamish has captured both the immense power and the spirited character of the beast. Visually striking, the Bull Head sculpture would lend dramatic impact to a large, light interior or provide a stunning focal point to an outdoor space.

Over the years bull heads have been a generic feature of my work. I sculpted this bull from the back of my trailer, inside a barn, where the bull was being kept during the freezing winter. It took about a week to sculpt. He was a great model!
