Kangaroo - 2015
The kangaroo are available as a single, or a double kangaroo sculpture, or particularly dramatic as a triple. When placed together as a group of three, showing the kangaroo at different stages in the arc of a jump, one really appreciates Hamish's anatomical understanding of the marsupial's extraordinary gait.
Australia’s unofficial but well-loved emblem, the kangaroo is endemic to that country. It is estimated that over 34 million of these marsupials live in Australia and it is used as a national symbol on the currency, coat of arms and by several large Australian organisations.

THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
Australia is somewhere I have long wanted to revisit; the animals that thrive in its vast, remote and arid environment are thrilling to study. It was wonderful to finally have the opportunity in 2015 to return to The Outback on a sculpting mission, with my camera, travelling studio box and plasticine. In this sculpture I have tried to capture them ‘on the move’ with their large, powerful hind legs, large feet adapted for leaping, a long muscular tail for balance.
