Hamish Mackie’s bronze leopard sculptures are an extraordinary collection of Big Cat studies. One of the African Big Five game animals, Hamish was lucky enough to observe them at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya.

Hamish has sculpted the leopard in a series of characteristic poses, which show the power, stealth and agility of this magnificent animal.

Hamish’s life size Leopard Climbing Tree displays an anatomical correctness in his muscular build and a striking sense of the panther’s spirit beneath. It is available as a limited edition sculpture and would provide an arresting focal point to any substantial outside space.

Big Cats are one of my favourite subjects to sculpt. This Leopard Life Size Climbing Tree was sculpted in my studio, using research material I have gathered from my trips to Africa. It took approximately two weeks to make the armature and sculpt in clay, and three months to cast at the foundry. This sculpture was exhibited on Oxford Street, London, during the Olympics in 2012.
