Stag, Bronze – Life Size - 2008
Hamish’s Stag sculpture is life size and with his impressive antlers, would make a striking focal point in any outdoor space. This bronze Stag sculpture looks particularly fine placed in the natural landscape.
"Going up the hill, in the Highland of Scotland, is one of my favourite pastimes. I stalked a group of three stags to within six meters, before spooking them with my camera – an unforgettable experience. The rut, along with many other seasonal events in the animal kingdom, gives a fascinating insight into their evolved behaviour.
When the occasion presents itself, it is beneficial to work from a carcass, as in the case of this Stag. This life size sculpture was modelled from a stag shot on the west coast of Scotland. I sculpted him just as I remember having seen one, just disappearing out of sight over the top of the hill." (HM)
