There are two Cheetah life size sculptures, breathtaking both in their realism and in the emotional response they invite from the viewer. Placed outside in the natural landscape, they add an unexpected and powerful impact to a garden.
Hamish’s bronze Cheetah Life Size – Foot Down sculpture is a highly textured piece, defining and enhancing the impressive power of the animal, captured legs outstretched in full flight.
Cheetah Life Size Foot Down is part of a series of two sculptures, the other one being Cheetah Life Size Launch Pad. These bronzes aim to capture a visual freeze frame sequence of a focused cheetah chasing prey; story telling in bronze. Sculpting life size bronzes gives me the scale to make large gestural marks that creates the movement in my work. These sculptures also show how anatomically defined and balanced cheetahs are. They are two of my most dynamic sculptures to date. As Edward Lucie-Smith said “…his animals always seem to be on the move, or ready, at any moment, to move.”
