Hamish's Monumental Hares feature in Hares of Hampshire Art Trail June 13, 2022

Hares of Hampshire is a public art event that runs for 10 weeks from Thursday 16th June – Thursday 25th August 2022, created by the Murray Parish Trust and Wild In Art.  The family-friendly trail of different sponsored sculptures of hares and leverets, takes visitors around Southampton and Winchester. It’s a fun and clever way for the Murray Parish Trust to raise funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.

I am delighted that one of my hare sculptures is part of the art trail. So on 31st May, we all went down to Southampton for the unveiling of my Monumental Hares 2021 sculpture, which has been installed next to the John Hansard Gallery.

It was a lovely sunny evening!  We met Jacqui Rayment, the Mayor of Southampton who helped with the unveiling and Eamonn Ferrin, Vice President of International Business at Norwegian Cruise Line who are sponsoring the event.

I was interviewed by the wonderful Sarah Parish, a rather unnerving part of the evening for me, but it seemed to go well! Sarah and her husband Jim, founded the Murray Parish Trust in 2014, in memory of their daughter. The trust is dedicated to the advancement of paediatric emergency medicine across the South of England. I really happy to be supporting this very worthwhile cause.

If you are in Southampton or Winchester, do go along and see all the fantastic hares!
