“Elephants, along with other African animals are a subject close to my heart. After school I travelled in Africa and it was at Lewa Conservancy in Kenya, observing all the wildlife in their natural habitat, that I first decided to make sculpting my career.” (HM)
Hamish’s affection for elephants is apparent in his sensitively realised bronze bull elephants sculpture. Hamish is always mindful of the vulnerable status of elephants and the threat to population numbers, having a long association with the conservation organisation Tusk and the Lewa Conservancy in Kenya. His bronze sculptures of bull elephants are particularly appealing, sculpted with a comprehensive understanding of their anatomy, behaviour and character from years of observation and field study.
