Nude Stretching Female - 2015
Hamish’s bronze nudes are a departure from the wildlife sculpture for which he is best known. However, whether sculpting the animal or human figure, he brings to all his work the same anatomical accuracy, attention to detail, and exploration of his subject’s spirit.
Part of a long tradition in western art, Hamish has chosen to sculpt naked women in positions which accentuate the musculature and physiology of the human body. All Hamish’s bronze nudes are fine pieces of figurative art and skilfully portray the the beauty of the female form.
"It is refreshing to sculpt from a living model in the studio. I can decide both what stance they should take and rotate to any angle to sculpt from – it is more immediate than piecing together research collected in the field." (HM)
Nude Female Stretching is a bronze limited edition sculpture of a woman reaching up, back arched, one foot flexed behind her on the ground. Available in dark or light patina.
THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
Over the years I have enjoyed studying and sculpting the human form. In 2015, after finding a model willing to be sculpted in my studio, I began three separate sculptures, which I worked on in unison. We worked in short bursts as it is tiring for us both, posing and concentrating on so many sculptures! She is available in either a dark or light patina - it's interesting how different patinas can change the whole feel of a sculpture.
