Hamish Mackie sculptures at Cirencester Park July 8, 2024

I am delighted that four of my sculptures are on display at the Bathurst Estate for the summer. Leopard Life Size Climbing Tree 2008, Hares Monumental 2021, Andalusian Stallion 2014 and Ammonite Cretaceous Stainless Steel 2018 have all been placed in the glorious grounds of Cirencester Park for visitors to enjoy.

I love making large sculpture and Cirencester Park, with its historical landscape and striking rides, is an ideal location. I always hope to make sculptures which not only sit naturally within an environment, but also enhance a landscape. Sometimes it’s that moment of surprise as you unexpectedly stumble across a sculpture, and other times when the sculpture is framed by the vista. So what an amazing frame the Broad Avenue is for my Andalusian Horse!

“These exciting new sculptures fit perfectly into the historic landscape, particularly the ‘Andalusian Stallion’, positioned on the skyline of the Broad Avenue. It draws one’s eye automatically onto it on entering the Park from Cecily Hill.’’ (Lord Bathurst)

Those visiting The Old Kennels for refreshments at Roots+Seeds Restaurant or the soon-to-open Cattivo Pizzeria will see my Ammonite Cretaceous sculpture in the courtyard dining area. It looks very at home there!

“It’s been great fun getting to know Hamish over the last few weeks and we are delighted to see his sculptures here this summer. We think they complement the Park landscape brilliantly and I for one am struggling to decide on a favourite. We hope lots of people will come and enjoy discovering these wonderful works of art.’’ (Peter Clegg, CEO of The Bathurst Estate)

A huge thank you to the Bathurst Estate for supporting my large-scale sculpting. I do hope you will pop along and see them in the historic Grade 1 listed parkland of Cirencester Park.
