In 2021, Hamish was commissioned to sculpt a portrait bust of arguably the most famous scientist ever, Albert Einstein. It was a wonderful commission with complete artistic discretion.
The client was particularly inspired by the courage that Einstein showed in 1914 as a pacifist and wanted a sculpture that would reflect his contemplative nature, as well as the genius for which he is so well-known.

Einstein was born in 1879 and died in 1955. During his lifetime, he made a number of extraordinary contributions to the understanding of theoretical physics, including developing the theory of relativity. In 1922, he won the Nobel Prize for Physics, particularly for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

Hamish’s trademark loose handling of his material gives a powerful but subtle energy to this bronze sculpture of Einstein. He has captured a sense of the scientist’s great intellect and analytical mind, perhaps engaged in the contemplation of war.

After the overwhelming success of his two depictions of Sir Winston Churchill, this bronze Albert Einstein bust is another fine addition to Hamish’s body of figurative sculpture. A scaled down version is also available.
