Bull Bucking - 2012
Hamish Mackie’s Bull sculptures work particularly well in bronze. The material lends itself to the artist’s loose and energetic handling which brings a liveliness to his cattle sculptures. Hamish has captured them in a variety of characteristic poses.
Created at the same time as Bull Head Down, this bronze sculpture of a Bull Bucking is also inspired by Hamish’s studies of fighting bulls in Spain. They complement each other perfectly and together make a fine pair for the collector. Hamish’s Bull Bucking also displays the artist’s comprehensive understanding of the animal’s anatomy, showing its impressive power and physique. Available in a limited edition of 12.

THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
For me, knowledge of anatomy is fundamental. I sculpted a Side of Beef in 2012 in order to gain further anatomical understanding of bulls. Once I had the bull’s anatomy in my head, I was able to sculpt a series of bulls without interruption, I sculpted this bull in conjunction with Bull Head Down 2012.
