“Chickens I find endlessly amusing, and have found myself hypnotised while observing a hen having its afternoon nap. A second chicken, a little more lively, jumped up onto my modelling stand and started pecking the clay original!” (HM)

Informed by his upbringing on a Cornish farm, Hamish’s bronze Chicken sculptures are delightfully full of character. Artfully placed in the garden, they provide a witty detail, particularly when grouped together.

This group of three captures the humorous characteristics of every day chicken life.” (HM)

Originally from China, the large Brahma Chicken has heavily feathered legs and a distinctive upright bearing. With his bronze sculpture of a Brahma Cockerel, Hamish has sculpted this rather stately bird with his trademark textural style.

Chickens I find endlessly amusing, and have found myself hypnotized while observing a hen having its afternoon nap. The second who was little more lively, jumped onto my modeling stand and started pecking the clay original. The chickens were sculpted as a group of three (with Chicken Hen Pecking and Chicken Young Leghorn Cock). Sculpting birds requires more accuracy than with other animals; their individual characters are evident, accentuated by their poses and by the patination that is applied.
