Dung Beetles - 2015
"A client was keen for me to make some dung beetles for him. They are incredibly hard working insects that work together for their community. In this sculpture I have shown them doing what they do best…working as a team moving a dung ball!" (HM)
Also known as scarab beetles, from their Latin name Scarabaeidae, dung beetles were revered by the Ancient Egyptians. It was believed that this humble insect was responsible for keeping the earth revolving, rolling it along like a giant ball of dung. Hamish has captured the dung beetles busy at their work.
Hamish’s Silver dung beetle sculpture is available in a limited edition of 6.

THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
I love the rich depth my sculptures are given when they are cast into silver. It enhances the texture of the sculpture and gives a completely different feel to my bronze sculptures.
