Vessel – Inflection Point - 2015
Hamish occasionally turns his attention to inanimate objects, exploring the fluidity of form and shape in those pieces.
His bronze sculpture Vessel - Inflection Point is a large urn with a classical feel to it. It works as an indoor focal point bringing weight to a light and airy modern interior, but equally blends well in a traditional setting.
As an outdoor sculpture, it provides contrast and textural difference to a thoughtfully planted garden, bringing an complementary ornamental quality to the natural landscape.
THIS SCULPTURE IN THE MAKING
Every so often I like to make challenge myself by making a sculpture not connected to the ‘animalier’. This Vessel was made at the same time as Amphora 2015 and was inspired by the antiquities, a contemporary take on an ancient relic. For this sculpture I had a profile former laser cut out of steel. I then built the plaster original up over a rotating axle.
